Commiserations to the Senior Footballers who went down to St Anns by just one point after putting in a great performance in the second half. The score was St Anns 4-3 (21), Naomh olaf 2-14 (20). The match report is on naomholaf.ie. Naomh Olaf SF’s take on Lucan on Sat 12 Feb at 11 AM in Pairc Ui Bhriain. The Juvenile season started Saturday 4 February. Fixtures are posted on naomholaf.ie. The JF’s take on St James Gaels on 12 Feb at 11 AM in Iveagh Grounds.  A table quiz in aid of Naomh Olaf National School will be held in the clubhouse on 9 Feb at 8 PM. Tickets are available from the class reps or from Paula. Bridge classes for beginners will take place in the clubhouse on 16 and 23 Feb and 1 March. Details from Joan O Mahony 086-1084701. Congratulations to Emmet and Jill O Grady on the birth of baby Girl Aisling and to Karl and Aisling Kavanagh on the birth of baby girl Lauren. Reminder: The clubhouse function room is available for christenings, birthday parties and other functions. On Sunday nights, there is music, dancing, bingo and the weekly lotto draw.

Commiserations to the senior football team who put in a good performance in a friendly on Saturday but went down by 3 points to Division 1 St Peters of Dunboyne. Click for  Match Report  The juvenile presentations took place on Sunday 29 Jan in a packed main hall. A bit thank you to Anthony, all the mentors and indeed the parents who supported the event. Results available at Juvenile Awards.Tickets will be distributed for the Dublin Kerry game on Thursday night at 9PM in the clubhouse. Club members are again reminded of the need to renew their club membership for 2012 in time to register the members with Croke Park ahead of the March 31st  deadline.  Treasured Memories the Naomh Olaf 30 year history book continues to sell well.  Orders to Eileen Hickey at 086 8534313. Bridge classes for beginners will take place in the clubhouse on 16 and 23 Feb and  1 March. Club Notes Week 4  Published 23 Jan 12

 

There was a large turnout with standing room only in the clubhouse for the adult presentations. Former Dublin manager Tommy Lyons, guest speaker on the night presented the trophies. A big thank you to him for giving of his time and also for entertaining us on the night. Shane Whyte and Donal MacMahúna were awarded Senior Football and Hurling player of the year respectively. Award details can be viewed at naomholaf.ie. The late Barry O’Brien RIP, a distinguished hurling player received an award in the best over the last 30 years category. Barry was captain of the Dublin U 21 hurlers in 2002. The first anniversary mass for the late Greg Naughton RIP was held on Saturday followed by a big turnout afterwards at the clubhouse. A senior football challenge will take place in Pairc Ui Bhriain on 28 January when visitors St Peters of Dunboyne take on Naomh Olaf at 3 PM.  Treasured Memories, the 30 year history of Naomh Olaf sold well again on Friday night and may be purchased from Eileen Hickey 086-8534313. Adult Team Presentations

Trophies will be presented to the adult teams including player of the year on Friday 20 January in the clubhouse from 9 pm. As the club recently celebrated its 30 anniversary, the best players over the last 30 years will also received special recognition on the night.

 

Renewal of Club membership

Club members are reminded of the need to renew their club membership for 2012 in time to register the members with Croke Park ahead of the March 31st membership deadline. Please be aware that failure to register a member in time with Croke Park means that a member is not eligible to vote at the club AGM for 2012 and is not eligible to stand as an officer either for the club or at county board level unless their membership is registered with Croke Park in time.

 

 

Juvenile Presentation

The juvenile presentation will take place on the 29 January at 4 pm in the clubhouse.

 

Treasured Memories

 Sales of “Treasured Memories”, a new book detailing the 30 year history of the Naomh Olaf Club continues to sell well. The book may be ordered from Eileen Hickey at 086 8534313. It is also available at the Clubhouse and costs €20.

 

Bridge Classes

A Race Night will be held in the Clubhouse on Friday, 10th February 2012 in support of former senior player Paul Curran who is receiving treatment for a serious illness.  Support would be much appreciated on the night. Dublin GAA have announced the Spring Series 2012.  Both Senior Teams will play their Allianz League home games in Croke Park
Fixtures as follows

Sat. 4th Feb Dublin (F) V Kerry Kildare V Tyrone

Sun. 11 Mar Dublin (F) V Armagh Dublin (H) V Cork

Sat. 24 Mar Dublin (F) V Donegal Dublin (H) V Tipperary

The two Saturday games will be played under lights

Niall McCaffrey and Philip Funge who raised funds by way of a race night in the Club for destitute earthquake victims in Haiti. They worked in incredible heat and helped build 60 new houses for people who otherwise would have little chance of being housed

Club News Week 1 2012

 

Treasured Memories" the 30 year history of the Naomh Olaf GAA Club continues is selling well. Web site enquiries and related sales are proving very successful. The book may be ordered from Eileen Hickey at 086 8534313 or from Brendan McGlynn at 2956139 to purchase in person or by post.

 

The Lotto winning nos were 10,16, 20  with no winner. The jackpot is now €1900

 

Congratulations to Niall McCaffrey and Philip Funge who raised funds by way of a race night in the Club for destitute earthquake victims in Haiti. They worked in incredible heat and helped build 60 new houses for people who otherwise would have little chance of being housed.
