U12 Footballers - May 8 2010 Print E-mail
Written by Ger Kirwan

The U12 team 1 started their league competition by playing St. James Gales in the Iveagh Ground on Saturday May 8th.  This team had a disappointing run in the Cup competition but they were determined to put things right in the league. And put it right they certainly did by running out winners on a score line of Olaf’s 8-16 St. James Gaels 2-3.

Man of the Match was undoubtedly Glenn Soraghan who scored a magnificent 5-7.  Glenn was aided up-front by Cian DeBurca (0-2), Tom Keane (1-3), Chloe O’Ceallaigh (1-0), Matthew O’Ceallaigh (1-2) and Fiachra O’Sullivan. While Fiachra failed to get on the scoreboard, he was certainly the main play-maker and was responsible for setting up a majority of the scores.

Jordan O’Connor had another great game in goals.  While the backs of Tom McGurk, Conor Kirwan, Conor Brady, Eoin Foley (0-2) and Jack Dalton all played well, they will still need to up their performances in the remaining games. If the James Gaels forwards had brought their scoring boots with them on the day, the game would have been a lot closer.

Sean McDaid and Jamie Deasy were superior throughout in midfield.

The next game for this team will be against St. Anne’s on May 22nd which will certainly be a lot tougher.

The panel was: Jordan O’Connor, Tom McGurk, Conor Kirwan, Conor Brady, Eoin Foley (0-2), Jack Dalton, Sean McDaid, Jamie Deasy, Glenn Soraghan (5-7), Cian DeBurca (0-2), Fiachra O’Sullivan, Tom Keane (1-3), Chloe O’Ceallaigh (1-0) and Matthew O’Ceallaigh (1-2).
