The Naomh Olaf Senior team put in a fine performance against Brigid's last Saturday afternoon to claim a convincing win. The first half saw Olaf's making inroads down the right-hand side, with Brian Begley(0-2)showing well and feeding Kieran Hegarty(0-1) and Simon Hickey(1-0). Olaf's full-forward Eoin Kinsella(1-4)took his first from play from an acute angle on the right, quickly notching another as Olaf's moved the ball quickly to their forwards from midfield and half-back. Following fine work from Hegarty and Begley, Kinsella turned his man inside out before sidestepping the keeper and burying the first goal of the day.
The second half saw Kevin Birrane continuing his dominance of the midfield area, starting with a nice run and a beautiful pass over the last defender to give Simon Hickey a chance to rattle in Olaf's second goal of the game. Olaf's defence, led by Darren Egan, were putting in blocks and forcing errors. With Brigid's losing heart and Olaf's wingbacks Shane Whyte(0-1) and Gary Wilkins pushing forward, Olaf's picked off further scores from Whyte and Lorcan Kinsella(0-1) to seal the victory.
