Ballyboden St Enda’s 1 – 16 Naomh Olaf 1 – 12 (AET)
Naomh Olaf travelled to Glencullen on Saturday afternoon to play Ballyboden St Enda’s in the second stage of the Intermediate Championship. Although the sun shone in Sandyford the pitch at Glencullen was damp and chilly. Playing into a strong wind Naomh Olaf trailed by 0 – 3 to 0 – 7 at half time.
Both sides missed chances in the second half, the most costly being two missed frees by Naomh Olaf at the end of the half.
At full time the sides were level, Naomh Olaf 1 – 8, Ballyboden St Enda’s 0 – 11.
Extra time followed with two periods of ten minutes played. In the first period Ballyboden St Enda’s snatched a goal from the rebound of a tremendous save by Mick O’Connor and they were in the lead by 1 – 13 to 1 – 10 at the break. Naomh Olaf added two points in the second half of extra time but were unable to draw level and Ballyboden St Enda’s won by 1 – 16 to 1 – 12.
