AFL3 Pairc Barrog Friday 16th September 2011
Naomh Olaf 2 – 10 Naomh Barrog 1 – 10
Naomh Olaf made a tremendous start after the long trek to Pairc Barrog on Friday evening and with fifteen minutes gone led by 1 – 5 to no score. Naomh Olaf played an impressive passing game and at half-time led by 2 – 7 to 0 – 4
As expected Naomh Barrog came back strongly in the second half and had pegged Olaf’s lead back to 2 – 8 to 1 – 8 as the game went into the third quarter. Once again Olaf’s rallied and stood strong in defence turning back attack after attack. Both teams added another two points and Olaf’s held on to lead throughout the game and most importantly at the finish with a score line of 2 – 10 to 1 – 10.
This was a fine team performance but special mention to Fearghal McCann at midfield and Brian Begley on the wing for their fine contributions. Following the game Naomh Barrog was presented with the league winners cup by Andy Kettle, Chairman of the County Board and Naomh Olaf applauded the team from the pitch. The league is now concluded and Naomh Olaf players and loyal supporters look forward to competing in AFL3 again in 2012.
