Chairmans Address at Book Launch
The Club chairman Liam Kavanagh described how two years ago, Brendan McGlynn was asked by the then executive committee
to take on the huge task of compiling the club’s thirty year history. He described visiting Brendan’s house to see the huge
volume of documents and photographs he had accumulated as part of this work. He stated that one can only imagine the many
hours involved in chasing up people, reading, editing, selecting and discarding material as part of compiling this excellent book.
He added that Brendan, who served as club PRO for 15 years was the ideal choice for the role, given his deep knowledge of
club affairs. He thanked the former chairman Harry O ‘Crowley and the 2009 executive committee for their decision two years
ago to have this book compiled.
Brendan McGlynn address (Brendan Compiled the Book)
Brendan McGlynnspoke about the support he obtained from Harry O'Crowley and the executive committees. He thanked many
people including those who wrote articles, edited documents and did proof reading. He thanked the teachers and pupils from
the local schools who took part in the essay competition and who have supported the club and our coaches over the years.
The pupils who wrote the winning essays received a complimentary copy of the book and the winning essays appear in the book.
He thanked the adjudicators, the graphic designers, the cartoonist, panorama magazine, the club secretary and many others too
numerous to mention for the help and cooperation he received. He spoke of cooperative teamwork and stated that without this
community spirit, the book could not have been produced. He warmly thanked his wife Patsy for all her help and support
like keeping track of the hundreds of documents and photographs. He said he was very lucky to have such a supportive
spouse who is also passionate about gaelic games and club affairs.
