Report on Camogie Challenge match   07/02/2017

The senior camogie  team had a tough physical challenge game against a very determined Bray Emmets on Sunday morning in beautiful sunny conditions. The frost cleared quickly and the pitch was in great condition considering the rain that fell in the latter part of the week. With three players on inter county duty a number of players were playing in new positions.  Bray Emmets won the Wicklow junior championship in fine style last September and it was easy to see why as they raced out of the blocks and had 3-2 on the board before the Naomh Olaf girls scored their first point. The passing and distribution of the ball by the Naomh Olaf players was letting them down and playing into the strong sunshine did not help matters. The first half ended 4-5 to 0-2 to Bray.  In the second half Naomh Olaf's girls got their act together and held Bray scoreless. Some lovely moves were put together to score 2-2 and had another bullet directed straight at the Bray goalie. Final score 4-5 to 2-4 to Bray Emmets.

Bray have asked to play in the Dublin league in order to have more competitive matches and they are nearer to almost all Dublin teams than those in Wicklow. They will be a welcome addition to the Dublin league. As for Naomh Olaf, the runout was badly needed to shake off the winter cobwebs and for the girls and management to see where the team is at before competition commences later in the month.
