Two Under 13 Football teams on show   20/02/2017

It is a testament to the hard work of their coaches that Naomh Olaf are in a position to field two football teams in Dublin league football this year.

The two U13 teams continued their month of Gaelic football league grading matches with team 1 making the long trip to the market gardening capital of Ireland to St. Maurs of Rush in Division 4 while team 2, who had a bye this round, played their re-scheduled game at home to Fingal Ravens on Sunday afternoon.  St. Maurs showed they meant business from the off against team 1 and we saw why they are top of the grading league.   They set about a comprehensive beating of the Naomh Olaf boys.  Despite a stronger second half from the southsiders, they could not close the gap with St. Maurs going on to win 13:10 to 4:4.  A long and quiet journey back to Sandyford!!  Heads up boys.  Next week team 1 will host Cuala at home.

Team 2, watched by a large gathering of supporters, took to the upper Juvenile pitch at Páirc Uí Bhrian on Sunday to play Fingal Ravens and delivered a strong first half performance to lead at the break.  The visitors came out for the second half with a renewed determination and dominated the half while the Naomh Olaf boys were unlucky to be denied certain goals by the uprights and crossbar.  The game ended Naomh Olafs 3:7 Fingal Ravens 6:4.

This game marked Dylan Doyle's final game for the team and club as he and his family are re-locating to Waterford in the coming week.  The U13 mentors and Dylan's team mates wish them all the very best for the future and be sure to sign up at your new local GAA club.
