Under 15 footballers finish well   20/02/2017

A bright and mild Sunday morning greeted the U15 boys as they welcomed Fingal Ravens to Páirc Uí Bhriain for their 3rd round Division 2 Gaelic football league match. Having lost to the Fingal team in their final game of last season the Naomh Olaf lads were keen to turn their previous result into a win. Ravens started the brighter of the two teams recording early scores.  But with the home team chasing the game and gradually getting on top, an exciting first half ended with Naomh Olaf leading by a score of 3:3 to 3:1.  Naomh Olaf started the second half as they had finished the first with the ball rarely leaving the Fingal half of the pitch.   The Naomh Olaf lads went ahead by 12 points at one stage but Ravens were by no means beaten and in the final 10 minutes they showed incredible courage and determination to close the game to within two points.  In the dying minute of the game and a final attack Ravens won a free in front of the Naomh Olaf posts and scored a point but it was too little too late as the referee blew the final whistle.  Naomh Olaf recorded a single point victory on a scoreline of 4:11 to 6:4. They lie fourth in division 2 with two wins from three games and will travel to Russell Park next Sunday morning to take on St. Brigids in Round Four.
