Men's Adult Footballers continue on their Winning Ways

Last weekend saw a return to league action for the adult footballers of Naomh Olaf.

The Seniors made the trip to Glasnevin in confident mood after their first match win over O'Toole's.  Na Fianna, standard bearers in Dublin football, provided the opposition and Shane Smith and his Balally team knew that this was a real test of their actual standing. This was Na Fianna's first match of the campaign and an important tie to see where they also stood.  A tight game of football was produced with both sides looking likely winners at different times.  At the end of the day it was the Naomh Olaf team which pulled away to finish winners on a scoreline of 1:11 to 0:10.  A long road ahead but the Sandyford lads have to be happy with their start!

The Junior 1 footballers had a local derby against Stars of Éireann as their second league fixture.  Drawn away, this was not going to be a long trip for the Naomh Olaf lads and as it transpired the match was switched to Stepaside on Tuesday night.  A good attendance was enticed by the local flavour of this match.  Stars put up good opposition but the Naomh Olaf lads boast a mixture of wily veterans and up and coming young guns and they proved too strong for the Glencullen contingent on a  score of 0:19 to 0:6.  Darragh O'Connor, one of the younger crew, produced a masterful display in midfield and Eoin Kinsella and Fergal McCann tormented the opposition defence.  Well done lads!!

A trip to Newcastle, Co. Dublin faced the Junior 2 team in Division 11 last Sunday.  This is the newly entered team this year and Seán Farrell and his management team have started very well.  Following their first round victory they clocked up an impressive 4:11 to 0:4 win against St. Finian's to keep the ship for all adult men's teams in the club on course.  Lean oraibh a bhuachaillí!!

Hurling returns next Sunday with the Seniors facing Raheny at 10:30 and the Juniors taking on Kilmacud Crokes at 12:00, both at home.  Please support.
