Mixed Fortunes for Under 13 Boys   30/03/2017

Mixed Fortunes for Under 13 Boys

Naomh Olaf Under 13's team 1 travelled to Kiltipper last Saturday to face Thomas Davies, a team that had beaten them earlier in the season in the football grading series.  With little love lost between the two sides the home team started the brighter and caught out a sleepy Naomh Olaf defence with two goals in the first four minutes.  Meanwhile at the other end Naomh Olaf just could not breach the Tallaght boys defence and had to opt for points from further out.  At half time it stood 3:2 to 0:5.  Following a rallying call from Glenn, Damien and David a much improved Naomh Olaf team took to the field and following three wides for Thomas Davis the visitors scored their first goal.   The Kiltipper lads were not done, however, and the two sides traded scores with the visitors reducing the deficit to just two points with 3 minutes to go. On the kick out Thomas Davies secured the ball and charged to the Naomh Olaf end to slot home a goal to end the game winners 7:4 to 4:9.  A tough one to take but well done boys.

Team 2 meanwhile welcomed Round Towers team 3 to a much dryer and pleasantly sunny Páirc Uí Bhriain.  The home side put on an impressive display in a very high scoring encounter, dominated in all areas of the field and never looked like being beaten.  They ended the game with a win 16:4 to 7:5, a super performance.  Next week Team 1 play Lucan Sarsfields at home while team 2 make the long journey to Balbriggan to take on O'Dwyers 2 in their respective hurling leagues.  Great stuff all round.  An-mhaith a bhuachaillí.
