U15 Boys Edged Out by a Single Point   30/03/2017

U15 Boys Edged Out by a Single Point

Malahide beckoned for the U15 boys on Sunday morning and a football league tie against St Sylvester's.  Games in Broomfield in the past have been edgy encounters and this occasion was to be no different.  Played on a smaller pitch than the Naomh Olaf lads were used to, both sides exchanged goals in the opening minutes with the game set to be a close one. The home team scored another quick goal while their defence gave away frees at the other end.  The first half ended with the southsiders holding a one point lead, 1:6 to 2:2.  In the second half both teams picked up where they had left off and maintained a high level of intensity fighting for every ball on the narrow pitch.   An early goal for Naomh Olaf put them in the driving seat while St. Sylvesters played catch up.  But they weren't down yet and they scored a goal of their own following some consternation on the sideline and went on to win the game by a single point on a scoreline of 3:6 to 2:8.  A disappointing defeat for the Naomh Olaf lads after a gallant effort.  Hard luck lads!!  Next week sees a return to hurling action and a home game against Craobh Chiaráin.
